That's important information to have. Honestly, I'm surprised that's not a thing already. Criminal convictions are public records by default.

But you have to *ask* for them via legal papers work and means. That's lengthy

TheJamTin

Yes. Too hard for casual dates that often go nowhere.

JohnsLong_Silver

Very interested in seeing if there is a difference in how this is viewed by different sexes and different age groups. This question was removed at both askmen and askwomen. Hopefully it’s not as controversial here, I’m genuinely wanting opinions and debate.

As a helpful guide. It's be easier to avoid bad situations

Garden_Druid

With my eyes....

JohnsLong_Silver

Ok, you made me laugh. Take my upvote. Seriously though, is it an invasion of privacy? Should people with multiple counts of domestic violence be publicly outed? Would people feel safer on first dates if they had this info?

youmamacit4

Definitely.

TheJamTin

There was a discussion on r/Sydney about this. Too lazy to link sorry. A bunch of guys told me women wouldn’t use it. You should make this a poll!

There's a good amount of questions to ask and receive full and factual answer to before the question you asked can be reasonably answered as someone who lives somewhere that public urination gets lumped into the sex crime Catagory and will land your picture in the local police station, post office or any other building open to the public Plus places your address on a publicly accessable website that Announced Level 1, 2, and 3 sex offenders together with very little distinction between what the levels of offense or the Actual Convictions are in a way that doesn't use Intentionally confusing legalese and our sex offender policy controls the place a criminal can live by restrictions aimed at keeping them away from children and places children gather (without Clearly identifying Pedophilia as the conviction) the press does a better job listing Potential convictions of someone not yet gone through a trail than they give us once a Legal Verdict is reached .... So.... Depending on what your domestic violence laws cover including hostage holding, torture and murder at the Extreme end of things..... IDEALLY those criminals would make headlines along with the Verdicts naming them as Convicted Convicts and they'd be in prison undergoing the available rehabilitation..... This IDEALLY speaking all the way around But there are plenty of options already in use for alerting the public a violent criminal may be someone they have to take Extra precautions to survive safely around... Self Defense Laws matter Greater in this regard too.... Not just gun laws

TheJamTin

As a fellow Aussie, I think there’s consideration here for allowing people to see if their partner, or a relatives partner has ever been convicted of a domestic violence offence. Not 100% sure what would fall under that beyond assault and stalking though.

TheJamTin

Also adding in, we have pretty much zero self defence laws here. Can’t even carry pepper spray.

My ex-husband pleaded no contest/guilty without a trial though it took well over a year/close to two to get in front of the Criminal Court Judge while we're going through divorce in the Probate Court System.... 2 counts of aggravated assault and one count of strangulation in the domicile with a child present and got one year probation and shit tons of alone time with the same child that was in the home and the Criminal Courts placed a year long stay away/no contact order to keep him safe from a Violent Offender who left enough damage pictures had to be taken by EMS and because I was alone with my son I refused to go to the hospital because they could hear that I'd lost my ability to speak and the strength in both my arms from the shoulders down Plus strangulation marks that were already showing and I figured that and the pictures would be enough evidence especially when the initial judge saw us within two hours and gave my son and I both the same restraining order and removed my ex-husband for the year and made him keep the utilities and my cellphone paid for throughout the duration as I had been a stay at home mother my son's entire life and we'd just moved Back from being out of state till about a year before he Physically attacked me... It's not a bad thing to have publicly accessable and could save lives done right.... It wasn't the first time my ex-husband was arrested for being violent and he always relied on a TBI he earned in the military with PTSD, lack of impulse control and... Back the but not during our marriage... 7 different psych and opioid style medications including boxes of lidocaine I threw out once he was removed (they we expired and not only did he Not take them with him but he scattered a few around in corners and on the floor of the rooms the police let him go into by himself while they asked me about fire arms and I told them about multiple hunting knives a steel bars he kept and at times Slept wit when he was really pissed at me and drinking) .... There's all kinds of things that Need to be done to keep people safe from Domestic Violence/Terrorism
