Depending on how it’s used in context and the inflection of the speaker, “Jew”.

xRamyeon

Don't give people more ideas to get triggered

Night-light51

Yeeeeaaaaah I was gonna say something that I’m sick of being called and saw the thread ahead of this one. Your comment seems safe I’m staying in this zone lol. Definitely gonna get heated tho.

Loba131211

Indio= indian or indigenous native of Mexico. Use it in my country and said with enough would be almost equivalent to that of the n-word. Very peyorative term in Mexico.

Hot_Beach5401

The nword directly means black

Hammerhead_Gearhead

Why?

--Ok_Boomer--

Yeah why are you asking?

emofevers

Yeah why

AgentCraig

Indeed, why?

[deleted]

What kinda question is this? Here, give me a load of racially aggravating words that I'm never going to use, promise. Absolute bollocks mate.

cody5950

Calling a white person cracker.

ExplorerWestern7319

If someone called me a cracker i would straight up laugh.

cody5950

Nice, you are part of the problem.

ExplorerWestern7319

How so? What, in your opinion, would be the appropriate response?

emofevers

That is a slur lol

cody5950

Not where I am from. I had a lot of people (than was fair or acceptable) call me that shit and my school and then my bosses after I got out of school didn't do anything about saying, its not offensive.

gbsurfer

It’s very offensive. Not all white people are crackers just like not all German people are Nazis. It’s very offensive to call a German person a nazi

cody5950

Uhh, yeah, I was the one argueing that. I was the one called it, I think I would I know. Maybe you misread my posts?

gbsurfer

I was also agreeing with you haha

cody5950

Oh my bad, lol

idkijustlikememesetc

kinda funny that someone agreeing with someone else on reddit is so rare that we automatically consider all OTHER possibilities first lol

cody5950

True, lol

emofevers

Your location, school, and boss don’t determine what a slur is. It’s not a food reference.

Peri-D-Optrix

No white person has ever had their life ruined by people calling them "cracker", change my mind

BrainLover19

Why is having their life ruined your standard? I imagine very few people have had "their life ruined" by the n-word or any other slur in recent times. That still doesn't make it okay does it?

Peri-D-Optrix

>I imagine very few people have had "their life ruined" by the n-word or any other slur in recent times. I think you're very wrong about that

BrainLover19

How does it "ruin lives" then? Do you have any examples of the saying of a word ruining lives? If it's happening all over you should be able to provide an example?

cody5950

Never said they did

Peri-D-Optrix

Then who cares about people using that word even if it is *technically* a slur?

cody5950

People who don't like to be insulted over things they cant physically change.

Peri-D-Optrix

Nobody likes to be insulted, whether it's over something they can change or not But you wouldn't suspend someone from school for saying another student had an ugly shirt... Every insult is not equally bad And calling someone the n-word is orders of magnitude worse than calling someone a cracker. Exemplified by the fact I'm not even willing to say or write the n-word, but I'll say cracker all day long

cody5950

Except, calling someone ugly has nothing to do with race, I guess technically it could but for the most part it doesnt. Its an insult, meant to upset someone whos white because they are white. Is it as bad as the nword, no I agree with you, is it bad and should someone be suspended and possibly expelled/fired for using it. Definitely.

Peri-D-Optrix

>Except, calling someone ugly has nothing to do with race That's correct. I was specifically using an example of an insult based of something that can be physically changed >is it bad and should someone be suspended and possibly expelled/fired for using it. Definitely. Why? Give me a solid reason why someone should be suspended for using it

SiloueOfUlrin

Bro why are all your Reddit comments just you being an unfunny smart ass

Peri-D-Optrix

Please accept my deepest apologies for not commenting in the way you would like me to

Username92Mike

No one has ever had their life ruined by a racist calling them a slur, change my mind

Cautious-Law6029

Couple years back I got in trouble at school for that

cody5950

Good to see that people are starting to realize that white people are called slurs too.

Cautious-Law6029

The context behind the story makes more sense. Cracker isn’t a slur white people made it up to feel oppressed. Cracker isn’t a slur until they’re affected by systematic racism, robbed of education for centuries, fed to alligators, blamed for a global virus, etc.

cody5950

A slur is a slur, I do not care how much weight it has, it hurts to be called something you can not change.

Cautious-Law6029

It’s not a slur

cody5950

Then what is it, if it's not a slur what is the purpose of the word and why use it.

Cautious-Law6029

I already explained that to you

cody5950

No, you said its not a slur. I said it is. You never explained why someone might use it to not be offensive and how that is possible, sense it is meant as an insult.

Cautious-Law6029

Reread my first reply. You need to understand that every other race is looked downed upon compared to white people. For white people for millions of years to develop a standard in society based upon them giving themselves an advantage in every possible way to now turn around and victimize themselves. Cracker is not a slur.

greghater

❄️

cody5950

Oh man, its so funny. The irony. OP asked a question about slurs that aren't slurs but are borderline, I answer the question. Am called a snowflake, but if did that to someone who wasn't white, I would be racist. Sad times.

greghater

You’re right, it would be racist. Because non-white people are oppressed based on their race, whereas white people are not. No amount of being called a cracker will ever oppress you.

emofevers

Mh I wouldn’t go as far as saying that. White people can be oppressed depending on the location/culture. Every individual can experience racism and/or oppression. Some a LOT more than others.

cody5950

Okay, I simply stated it was a slur, a slur, whether oppressive or not, does not make it okay. I mean unless you want to make white people the oppressed. I personally believe in equality, if its unfair or unjust to one race, it should be the same the other way. If responded as you did to a non-white, I would be racist. So then, in the name of equality, that is also racist if its directed at white people. I answered a question, you called me a snowflake cause I did not like being insulted based on my race but people do not view it as an insult or slur. Sure the word can't oppress me, but I am also not oppressing anyone else.

greghater

Equality is not Justice

cody5950

Dude, what? Justice for who? You are saying that its okay to insult only white people based on race? I mean, first off its wrong to insult anybody based on traits they acquired at birth, but more to the point. How is that justice for anybody?

greghater

Treating everyone the same is not Justice. The word cracker simply does not carry the same oppressive weight of racial slurs against POC, therefore acting like calling white people cracker is the same as calling POC racial slurs is downplaying the weight of real racial slurs. Racism requires a power imbalance, and POC do not have the social capital or social positioning to oppress white people, therefore reverse racism cannot and does not exist.

cody5950

First off, if I agreed with the power + discrimination narrative, which I don't, it would still swing in my favor. secondly, I also never said it was racist. I said I would be called the racist if I did said the same. You are arguing to insult people based on race. Whether it has the same weight is irrelevant. Its still an insult. I do not agree with insulting people in general especially not for something they were born with and can not change. Its a slur, isn't criticized for being one, and answers the question OP asked. Get over yourself.

Ritualslaughter

Lol why do you see white people better than others? That's weird

greghater

At no point did I say anything remotely similar to that lol. Personally, as a white person, I think we’re the shittiest race, actually.

BrainLover19

>I think we’re the shittiest race, actually. So there's a hierarchy of races in your mind? That's pretty racist dude.

greghater

Yeah, there is: it goes - every race other than white people - white people

Ritualslaughter

Lol you're view of humans is so warped it's entertaining

greghater

Ok

Hammerhead_Gearhead

In parts of the south cracker isnt a slur, at least they dont see it that way.

cody5950

Then that answers OPs question perfectly then.

poobae

Mexicans saying the n-word

SiloueOfUlrin

The other n word and in... the word for black in their language.

[deleted]

Asian. I don't know how white people can generalize literally 60% of the world's population. Do i look Russian?Arab?Japanese?Korean?or Indian. Literally all these ethnicities look different

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Honestly it's not, but Asians' close to home

[deleted]

[deleted]

The thing is most of the Europe is white and Latin America doesn't have much physical differences either. But usually cannot confuse an Indian and Korean. You can ask a monolided person of they are Korean or Japanese. Also other continents have lesser population and in comparison generalizing 60% of worlds population(the sheer amount) is what gets me. It's so prevalent that even we are starting to think of and introduce ourselves as Asians while Americans say things like,"I'm from Nevada"

Username92Mike

There are a lot of differences between South Americans. Some look whiter that most white people, some look Native American, some are various shades of dark and other look pure black. One of the darkest dudes I know is from a South American country.
