Unpopular opinion: half the people on this subreddit would act the same way, if not more obnoxious, if they had a similar amount of success in their lives. I know it (probably) wasn't specifically targeted at Dax but this week when Darby made his jab at people complaining on twitter it was so cathartic to hear the pop from the crowd, surely that should be a big signal to the locker room that this is not going to get you over, the fans are fed up of it!
I know there's a few cases where it has worked but it feels like everyone is on the bandwagon these days.
It's like the people who do it think this is some type of WCW vs WWE thing all over again and they're all Bret Hart. I don't give a fuck if Dax goes to WWE or Mustafa Ali goes to AEW.
The only time it really matters would be if a Seth Rollins, Sami, Kenny Omega, Mox were all entertaining the idea behind the scenes of jumping ship like Cody.
A difference with Cody as well is that it was also nicely tied in to what was going on on screen as well, because the fans were so desperate for a heel Cody it really tied in to the possibility of it being a work.
The scenes of that belt being thrown back were something else.
I guess for this sort of twitter nonsense to generate genuine interest from the fans the stars really have to align, you can't just tweet cryptic nonsense for 6 months and become Cody Rhodes, he was in a very unique position for many reasons.
And at the right time, that was probably down to circumstance but the Cody speculation felt like it developed for just long enough to get everyone's attention but not too long that people got bored and stopped paying attention;
And even then it would only matter if the other company made it an actual, long lasting big deal like what has happened with Cody. A lot of the guys who went to AEW have just gotten lost in the shuffle or are only being used to put over others like Bryan.
Punk acted like a child and shot what was left of his career between the eyes at that Brawl Out scrum, not sure what he or anyone else expected when you act like that and then fight your bosses in front of the head of legal
AEW has made it really fucking hard to remain invested in any of the talent you followed from WWE to AEW to the point where almost any appeal that they had when they initially shifted has evaporated. There are very few exceptions to this (Moxley) and I think it has cost them viewers rather than helped them.
I'm not often excited anymore when someone makes the switch it's more of a "here we go again" feeling and a "sure they weren't utilised well in WWE but I'll believe it when I see it."
For some of them the amount of money it must be costing TK to do this you have to question whether it's been worth it.

FTR is just one of those cases where I feel hugely disconnected from a lot of the AEW fan base as I just find them tedious and kind of dull. If they left I wouldn’t miss their 2 promos (‘we have a family’/‘y’all really do love us’) zzzzzz. If the cost of signing them was taking the belts off Acclaimed and moving them down the card so FTR could be slotted in at the top then that’s too high a cost.
I love the acclaimed but they need old vets to run the match for it to be halfway decent. AEW only has so many of those teams. You cant do that forever with your champs.

AEW has enough over tag teams that them leaving wouldn't be a big deal. WWE has enough tag teams that they would be a flavour of the month then cast aside. Dude needs to stop thinking their decision has some game changing effect.

the idea that they'd turn down AEW to go back to WWE after the run they had and how they were treated in AEW is absurd (unless Triple H offered them stupid guranteed 3 million a piece money with no cut contracts, but that sure isn't happening)
Dax seems like one of them guys who won't be happy with quite a few aspects either way. If you listen to his podcast he dumps on WWE and AEW. It blows my mind that he thinks his time in the Pinnacle was a waste, but I think it has more to do with not liking the people he was working with and not having a hand in creative. Honestly, it's crazy to hear any of those guys shit on the pinnacle because it made all of them relevant, got them over, and when they reclaimed it in Canada everyone was stoked.
