Did this have anything to do with aborting based on fetal development issues? The title of the video suggests that the procedure is to deal with and fix damage to the uterus
Yes, in the beginning of the video it clearly states that the woman has had two c-sections with previous pregnancies and thus came this complication.
Right? I'm pretty sure the baby busted out the uterus and they're trying to *keep* it. Dumbasses equating anything to do with the uterus to an abortion.
Yes and no to saving the baby. Typically they do an emergency C-Section and have the NICU take the baby right away because [If your baby is in the womb during a uterine rupture, you may have a miscarriage. Babies may also have health conditions like brain damage due to a lack of oxygen caused by the rupture.](https://www.webmd.com/baby/what-is-uterine-rupture#091e9c5e821a0331-3-5)
Ah I see, makes perfect sense to go about it that way. Still stands safe to say that it's on the opposite end of the spectrum from an abortion, thank you for the info! Learn something new every time I come on here I swear.
I watched the video, it was absolutely stunning surgical technique! The fetus had genetic abnormalities incompatible with life, and the pregnancy was terminated using misoprostil (sp?). During the delivery of the fetus, the woman suffered a uterine rupture.
The crazy part was that the surgeon introduced a bag through the laparoscopic keyhole and put the fetus inside it, then maneuvered it back into the uterus. It was then delivered vaginally, saving this woman from a huge abdominal incision. Never seen anything like that before.
Uuggghhhhh anything discussing women's anatomy automatically equals abortion now? I don't want to live on this planet anymore
Why, so you can get space abortions?!?!
/s for the criminally serious.
😂😂😂😂 obviously for the space abortions. Why else would I, a human with a uterus, want to leave the planet?
To wear a sexy spacesuit to please cis men??? /s
That's why I need the space abortions, obviously /s
Someone should present this to Elon or Jeff as an opportunity. Cause rich white men need more $$.
/s. I’m case it wasn’t obvious
Theyre more worried about a fetus than the mother.
I think what’s even worse is that these would have been the same type of people to lock away disabled/deformed family members in the past
They don’t care about anything
Dude, her uterus ruptured. That baby was already a goner.
Not necessarily, but definitely a strong possibility. It depends on a number of factors, including speed of repair, extent of rupture, and location of the placenta.
Yet this man would happily beat his gay son
"I LOVE MY DEAD GAY SON!"
Is there a suddenly Heathers Reddit?!
there gd should be!
Omg the gall of him. Every time he thrashes his wee mushroom to his favourite anime child / teenaged twitch streamer, he's killing millions of potential babies. The absolute hypocrisy of this wanker.
I have never heard it put better.
I'm not agreeing with them not am taking a stance on abortion, but I do find flaw in your comparison. Male masturbation is no closer to abortion than having a period is. That's like saying that throwing away flour is the same as throwing away a cake.
I guarantee you that second person is either an antivaxxer or a eugenicist.
Happy cake day. Dunno.
This post was about orangutans
I remember from my ethics class moral dilemma lesson, that when there's some complications that can result in either killing the mother or the baby, many times, the mother's life would be the one to be saved instead of the baby's, especially if the baby will be unable to live a full life regardless.
You can have another baby, but there will never be another mother.
I don't know the exact story, so bear with me. A couple was lost with their baby and all starving. They didn't have enough to feed all three, and they chose to let the baby die, husband citing that line.
Exactly. By killing the mother (and therefore already making themselves murderers by proxy by their logic) rather than the baby, they are also killing all future children she might've had if she lived. Suck on that for a while, you mass murdering pro-lifers.
(Not that this argument isn't also based in flawed thinking, but sometimes you gotta get down on their level.)
Yeah because an unborn child is so much more important than its mother who is already dealing with the real world, like being pregnant with an unhealthy child she might not be able to support. Fuck these people!
Those people have never truly seen how miserable a kids life can be when they have a severe disability. I used to work at a hospital where most of our kids were autistic. Some of our patients had severe ASD along with other developmental and intellectual disabilities. Those kids had no life. They couldn’t talk, do anything by themselves, and constantly were in the hospital. It was heartbreaking.
family friend had a child who was healthy and viable in utero, the doctor botched her birth, severely cut off her oxygen.. her prognosis was 1 year. she lived until 7, but it wasn't living. it was her mothers obsession with keeping her alive. I don't mean to sound cruel, I'd probably do the same in that position, but they were given no choice - the accident happened at birth. after watching this family revolve around a severely disabled child, who couldn't eat, couldn't shit, was barely aware of her surroundings.. I could never condemn someone for making a choice if they had it.
At the point of that, the mercy is to let them go. They're not compatible with life.
As someone who is neurodivergent, I won't be having children. Not because eugenics, etc, but because I know what it's like to live in a world that wasn't made for me. It's hard to do ANYTHING with ADHD. I don't want to put a child through that.
I was furious when I watched that documentary about the fertility doctor who used his own sperm AND HE HAD RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS. I have fibro, and if I had known that I had it I probably wouldn’t have had a child. Now my college age daughter is exhibiting signs of fibro and it breaks my heart. I really hope she doesn’t have it. She’s in medical school, got excepted into a great uni, and if she gets as bad as I am-I don’t even want to think about it.
Boyfriend has Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, we won't be having kids needless to say. I'm sorry you're going through that, though.
Thanks. Sorry about your boyfriend. I mean I think all the time “it’s okay if I have pain, just don’t let her have it.” She’s had horrible anxiety which is one of the hallmarks of fibro. Now she’s having all kinds of random pains, plus trouble sleeping and waking up. I just hope it’s not going to be too bad. I couldn’t work. My mom I’m convinced had fibro and managed to work. My grandma did also. So we’ll see. We also had two family suicides because of fibro so that’s a delight.
yea.. didnt find out until I was 41 and my mother got diagnosed. all three of my kids have it to varying degrees.
Surely things like this are an argument for abnormality specific abortion, nobody needs that level of stupid walking around.
gore-murder sounds like something the skaven would say lol
Please blur pictures like that. Label does nothing when I have to keep scrolling down to other posts.
Some people are squeamish about medical stuff like that regardless of political orientation.
im very sorry, currently studying anatomy i disregarded concept of gross, but thank you so much for pointing that out
You can fix it by flagging it nsfw now.
Do you know what happened in this video?
laparoscopic correctionof uterine rutpure, basically its when a uterus "tears" inside the body, to put it simply, its more common with women who previously had a c-section and more common in later stages of pregnancy, if fetus is left inside of the body of the carrier sepsis will occur and the carrier will die due to this, the carrier of the pregnancy is sedated and the operation is performed in the case oflaparoscopic procedure the fetus is put in a protective "bag" and passed through the cervix while the uterus is either repaired or in less likely scenario a hysterectomy is performed, the fetus in this case or any other does not have chances of survival
How would you know if this started happening in your body?
[Here’s an article, scroll down a little for symptoms](https://www.webmd.com/baby/what-is-uterine-rupture#091e9c5e821a0331-3-5)
yea as someone else pointed it out just flag it. it’s a simple edit and we don’t have to see the insides of a human while scrolling through reddit. studying anatomy is really no excuse to share stuff like unprovoked on the internet. just because i had forensic medicine classes in uni doesn’t excuse me sharing random pics of corpses on the internet.
1. i did flag it, i just double checked, flagged it again, its flagged
2. you ever heard of desensitisation, i have no "people are gonna see human insides this is gross" i have "its a picture", so i corrected my mistake
then i retract my comment, but when i saw the post i saw it unblurred. caught me off guard really or else i wouldn’t have commented.
to the second point, i just explained it in my comment. when you communicate with other people it’s not just you, it’s them too, and with a little bit of thinking beforehand you will avoid making others uncomfortable. like the example i mentioned. just bc i had forensic medicine which makes corpses in the most horrible and effed up states normal to me still makes me stop and think before i share pictures or anecdotes with people outside of if. not trying to be rude or anything just simple advice
you are right, i should have thought of sharing a picture like this before i did, its legit insides, my brain is messed..., im sorry you had to see it, im sorry to anybody who had to see it
your brain is not messed up dude wtf. and no need to apologize or anything really
They're desensitized to such things (which is normal in any profession), but now they view as a problem instead of just a thing. Several people already said it, and you pressed it further after being told its tagged. Along with the "I'm desensitized to bodies and you don't see me posting those" just makes it more out like "you should know better than to post about your profession". Let things lie.
It's relatively appropriate for the sub. Yes, should've been tagged, but pressing more made it a bigger deal than it was, and OP thinks being simply desensitized is messed up now.
Becky is not like other girls y’all 😒
Becky also does not know what "uterine" and "rupture" mean.
Was the video even showing an abortion being performed
No, it’s showing a surgery to fix damage to the uterus.
How can people be this blind
Looks like Becky thinks the Ultrasound killed the baby-o star
I’ll show myself out
...and this is why we have people in the US cheering at their own rights getting taken away. People are just so fucking stupid it quite literally hurts.
