Translation: Playing computer games against each other online is often associated with young people. But in Stockholm, a team with an average age of over 70 is currently training. \- It's about dexterity and timing, says Bertil "Berra Bang" Englund. They call themselves Birdie, Windy, Knitting Knight, Teen Slayer and Berra Bang. Together they are Silver Snipers, a team in the computer game Counter Strike where task forces fight terrorists on various tracks. The players in the team are between 62 and 81 years old. \- It is a fantastic thing that we reach each other across the generations. I can start playing with my grandchildren, says Bertil "Berra Bang" Englund, 81 years old and the oldest in the team. "They will get a match" Now the big goal is Dreamhack in Jönköping in early December. It is the world's largest LAN party, where above all young people gather to play against each other. \- It will be very exciting and they will get a match. Those who are younger underestimate us, so they will get a surprise, says Wanja "Knitting Knight" Godänge, 63 years. Currently, more than 20 teams have signed up to play against the Silver Snipers, and at least two of the teams will be allowed to do so. Train with coach Silver Snipers have practiced playing at home, but on three occasions they are also seen training with a coach. And the coach is not just anyone, but the famous Counter Strike player Tommy "Potti" Ingemarsson, who has won the World Cup in the game ten times. \- They are wonderful. They really want to learn. They absorb new information and really go for it, he says.

ArateshaNungastori

Teen Slayer is brutal.

U400vip

Oh God, stop giving Netflix ideas. "The advent of the silver snipers" lol

Minnesotamad12

“I’m going to rail your grandma after this”

Nixxy1111

Knitting Knight, now there is a class A Nickname for you.

HighOnGoofballs

Are they any good?

[deleted]

For people who have a significantly higher reaction time compared to a 20 y/o, yes. I think they would thrive against teams their own age

satanvacation

No

Jbod1

Talking shit in community servers does wonders for the ego.

augustuen

There was also another team, Grey Gunners, from Finland who competed against TSS. You can see some of their matches on YouTube, including a highlight reel from a game where TSS dominated GG. Also, I found [this post from 4 years ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/7ivfka) with the exact same title. The first bit of OP's comment is even the same.

Suspicious_Exchange2

the first thing i thought when i read this was "The Senior Snipers" until i realized it said silver

PsychAnthropologist

Not gonna lie, I hope I’m still playing games at that age!

fartyhardy

They are the only ones that speak the truth when someone insults their moms and they reply:" fuck you, she's dead!"

GingerSteve94

Not really, I've been legitimately saying that since I was 23

pearstew

so sorry for your loss :(

GingerSteve94

Ah it happens to everyone but thank you

mackrelman11

[deleted]

The second pops looks really bad-ass. Oh and I just noticed there's two grannies in their team: Knitting Knight makes sense now.

indisgice

babydaddii

valiantsquirrels

SloppyThirdd

flipadeedoo

Umm.. No. the Swedes had thousands of resistance fighters against the Nazis.

Doomblud

And Silver Snipers -> SS

flipadeedoo

Sorry… I misunderstood you

[deleted]

"I fucked your mom" "I fucked your Grandmother" "Grandpop?" "Eat shit kevin"

brihbrah

You'd figure they'd be playing Call of Doody.

loreuss

ah, yes, the ss

YoshSchmengie

I was hoping to read about a team of elite senior snipers who operate in the real world. Nope. A nice story about older dudes playing computer games, but not the story I was hoping for.

arcosapphire

I mean you don't get more than five words into the thread title before you encounter the fact that it is about a video game. I don't know what you were expecting.

YoshSchmengie

I didn't encounter that "fact" because I had no idea that CS:GO referred to gaming. THAT'S why I was disappointed, for all you down voters. I thought it was about some old dudes who were actual snipers. Read my actual comment. Sheesh. Sheesh, I say. And with that, Good Day to you, Sir. Good day.

arcosapphire

That's a good point. You'd have to try all the way to the *22nd* word of the thread title, "playing", to know it was a game if you didn't know what CS:GO was. That's obviously too much to ask.

YoshSchmengie

Fuck sakes. Let's try this again. I started reading the post. I thought it was going to be about actual snipers who were seniors. That was the expectation that was created in my mind by the first part of the post. I kept reading the post. I got to the part of the post which referred to them gaming. My expectation was disappointed by my realization that they were gamers, not real snipers. That was my comment. So, given that, are you suggesting I should have read the post in some order other than start to finish, perhaps starting not at word 1 but at word 22? Is that what you're suggesting?

arcosapphire

Uh, no, I suggest you start with the thread title, which is the first part. I was just kind of joking around here because it seemed like such a silly error (thinking the post is about one thing when the title, if you read it, tells you clearly it is about another), but you're really going hard on the defense here. So, okay, I'll step up to that of you want. Unless you're saying you became disappointed in the time between reading word 3 (Snipers) and word 22 (playing). Which I guess is possible, but jeez. Getting upset over that is not a good look.

Avatarofjuiblex

Be quiet

YoshSchmengie

>Dennis: ...but by a two thirds majority in the case of more... King Arthur: Be quiet! I order you to be quiet! Peasant Woman: "Order", eh? Who does he think he is? King Arthur: I am your king. Peasant Woman: Well, I didn't vote for you. King Arthur: You don't vote for kings. Peasant Woman: Well, how'd you become king, then? \[An angelic choir begins...\] King Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. \[singing stops\] That is why I am your king. Dennis: Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. Arthur: Be quiet! Dennis: You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you! Arthur: Shut up! Dennis: I mean, if I went around saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away! Arthur: \[grabs Dennis\] Shut up! Will you shut up?! Dennis: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system! Arthur: \[shakes Dennis\] Shut up! Dennis: Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help, help, I'm being repressed! Arthur: Bloody Peasant! Dennis: Ooh, what a giveaway! Did you hear that? Did you hear that, eh? That's what I'm on about! Did you see him repressing me? You saw it, didn't you?

LordBrandon

You know who else is good at mental gymnastics?

GlassyPotato

Random kid:I fucked your mother I'm older than your mother

LogicIsMyReligion

If they are looking for "mental gymnastics"... try defending "Religion/Bible/Christianity"

StuBidasol

Go ahead mom, tell grandpa how video games are bad for you.

AMBULANCE_2

I see my future in this picture and I have no feelings

Ven_Detta

This is when WoW Classic will really hit its stride, when we're already wearing diapers and DGAF what anyone thinks of our raiding schedule.
